Can a burn or split seam be patched instead of replaced?
Usually, yes. The limit is donor material. We cut a plug from a closet, under a bed, or a spare roll, then bond it with a seaming iron and tape. Nap direction has to match, or the patch reads dark from one side of the room. Cut pile nylon and polyester take plugs well. Low-pile loop and commercial glue-down in corridors and leasing offices do not. Loops must be re-rowed or a section relaid.
